Concert Musiques et Patrimoine : “Quintet de saxophones de la Garde Républicaine”
37500  CHINON
The Republican Guard saxophone quintet was founded in 1928 as a quartet by Marcel Mule (soloist with the Guard Band). This small nucleus of close-knit musicians worked ceaselessly to build its reputation. They travelled the length and breadth of France, performing abroad in Belgium, Switzerland, the United States, Canada and Japan. After Marcel Mule, Michel Nouaux took up the torch, followed by André Beun, who added a fifth instrumentalist. The quintet was born. It is currently made up of musicians from the saxophone section of the Garde républicaine wind band. Eclectic musicians, all first prize winners at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris, they tackle a wide range of genres: classical, contemporary, jazz?
